2024 Features, Part 3

Our work and research (and staff!) were featured on a wide variety of blogs and podcasts throughout 2024! This is the third of a four-part series in which we will highlight features from throughout the year, organized by theme.

This week we are focused on Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs), people who grew up overseas - no matter what their lives look like as adults.

2024 Transition

Author, Diplomat Kid (and now TCK Training intern) Marie Suazo interviews Tanya about her research into the experiences of Adult TCKs, what is "normal" in this world, and living a full life no matter what your childhood looked like.

Tanya Crossman chats with Ivorian ATCK Ochienga Yablé about research into the TCK experience, and how life can change in that moment you realize know you aren't the "only one" who has been through what you have been through - that there is a community who *gets* it!

In this article Jessi Bullis shares a personal story and weaves it into a metaphor for how grief and processing impact her as a TCK moving forward through life. It is a powerful read for both Adult TCKs and caregivers who want to better understand how to support them.

Tanya Crossman returned to the Chai With Ping podcast a third time for a conversation that ranged through a variety of topics including the importance of community and mentoring, intentionality in preventive care, and some of the internal narratives TCKs absorb over time - such as "everyone leaves".

There are so many unique TCK stories and experiences! Our lives are not black or white, but painted in technicolor. In this piece Tanya Crossman uses the metaphor of a tapestry to discuss the need for research that looks at the whole picture of TCK experiences.
