Counseling TCKs Therapist Training

This training aims to equip therapists to identify and understand the unique needs of Third Culture Kids in the therapy setting. The presenters will utilize research and lecture to provide foundational knowledge in addressing the needs of this population.

This training will cover:
  • Understanding the TCK population 
  • Research on developmental trauma in TCKs
  • Dissecting the roots of many TCK challenges 
  • Understanding the TCK Counseling Client
  • TCK-informed Intakes
  • Common TCK Diagnoses and misdiagnoses
  • Therapeutic Interventions
  • Termination Process

This training is approved by the NBCC for 6 continued education hours. Approval number SP-4624. Following NBCC guidelines, upon live attendance and completion of the course you will receive a certificate.

Lauren Wells

Chief Executive Officer

Lauren is the Founder and CEO of TCK Training and author of Raising Up a Generation of Healthy Third Culture Kids, What Made That Feel So Hard: The Unstacking Method, and more. An Adult Third Culture Kid (ATCK) who spent her teenage years living in Tanzania, East Africa, Lauren has worked with over 1,000 parents and TCK caregivers and has trained staff from over 80 organizations.

Maria Tricarico

Presenter & Unstacker at TCK Training

Maria is an adult TCK, raised between the US and Uganda. While living between these two worlds, she developed a deep passion for preventative mental health care that is both trauma-informed and culturally humble, a passion that she actively brings into her current career as an art therapist. Maria has a MS in Counseling and a post-graduate certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. She is passionate about helping people of all cultural backgrounds access and embody their innate strength, resilience, and capacity for growth.
